Some around that era had some diff issues but I would assume with those kms if it was one it would have been replaced

Unfortunately I can't help you much with the diesel as I have the 3.2ltr, but all I can say is that when I purchased mine (2007 HSE), it had 127Klms on the clock. I to was worried with what I'd heard of the previous model and did not want to be stuck with a lemon, how wrong was I!!!! Yes there has been some issues, but nothing my local mechanic has not been able to look after, and the issues are only due to normal wear and tear. Look out for the normal things, service records, condition, how does it drive, any strange noises, and if you can have it checked out by a professional. I know there are issues with the rear diff but it may have been repaired under warranty. Give LR a call and they can tell you what recalls have been done.

If all checks out, you will be rewarded with an exceptional drive which is a quantum leap over the previous model!! Watch a couple of reviews on YouTube, read the reviews, if all works in your favour, you will be rewarded with an exceptional vehicle. As for the price, hard to put a price without seeing the vehicle, I suppose it's what your prepared to pay... Best of luck!!

I've got a 2007 diesel with 160000km on it. Rear diff is the biggest problem with them. (Bearings were made in India) I've done one in mine. I repaired it myself so can't say on cost of repair. Shock absorbers are fairly common also in higher km ones.
The most major service is due at 240000km but personally I would change drivetrain fluids and timing belt a lot earlier.
The price is in the range for them. (Trade would be lower) Offer what you feel comfortable with

I live in Kakadu national park so off the beaten track is a good possibility, though in saying that I would try to keep it off a lot of the long corrugated dirt roads out here.

Thanks for the reply. Any idea what he is likely to be offered as a trade in on what I described??

I don't want to be making a silly low offer to him, but only have around 17k to play with at the moment. He has said there is room to move on the price.
