    Sad.
I felt so sorry for the fellow I was going to offer to sell him my recently serviced Commodore for the bargain price of $5,500. Low I know for such a great car.
Yes, it was a moment of weakness that has fortunately passed.
I was also going to offer to take the Freelander off his hands at no expense to him.

Garry, I'm shocked you thought I was joking.

My 1994 VR Commodore has been the best car I ever bought. It's done 470,000 reliable km so far and is still going strong. Servicing is cheap and it is a very comfortable car to drive. I've towed cars on tandem trailers effortlessly so it should tow your light weight caravan easily.
Why Holden have decided to stop producing these great vehicles I'll never understand.
    And thats the kicker...

I purchased a VR Commodore brand new.. What a box of issues that machine turned out to be...

    By 101,000km it was sold...

My LR on the other hand have all been very reliable, other vehicles in our household less so... A vitara that was bullet proof, a Ford that wasnt, a Nissan that cracked a head, a Toyota LC that was just trouble...

The OP needs to get over it..

To make such bollocks statements and expect sympathy is a joke...

To complain about the vehicle because a mechanic cant fit an accessory isnt the brands fault, to complain about the 40mm receiver - well guess what, theyre standard on Suzuki and a few others too...

Did the OP buy it from new? were any of the repairs within warranty?

    OP needs a Snickers...

    - replaced spindle in rear diff @ 30k
    - replaced fuel pump @ 60k
    - replaced alternator @ 80k
    - replaced hydraulic pump to power steering @ 82k
    - replaced rack & pinion steering @ 85k

On each of these occasions I sought assistance from Land Rover Australia but they simply were not interested in even discussing these problems - their after sales service has been atrocious to the point there is none.

In addition to the above problems I had Land Rover fit a tow bar so I could tow a light weight caravan, well this lead to one problem after another. Final price was over $3k and I should have purchased a better tow bar from Hayman Reece for less than $2k, so I have paid a premium to have Land Rover written on the tow bar. It was not only the cost but the size of the trailer ball mount which is 40mm compared to the standard Australian size of 50mm so I have been unable to purchase a trailer ball mount with a longer shank (required as LR set-up for the Freelander has the tow ball too close to the car).

All in all this car is absolutely junk and no improvement on those earlier Land Rover's that were plagued with problems.

I would urge anyone contemplating the purchase of a Land Rover to look elsewhere, there are much better cars at lower prices.

5 issues, all of which are uncommon, some of which likely caused by external factors such as poor or contaminated fuel, a few other issues which whilst frustrating, should be under 'fit for purpose' laws if out of warranty.

Imagine owning a Commodore with its pile of recalls recently. Or the list of known Jeep faults...

And Oh look... A 40mm receiver hitch from HR... Guess what -they do the tongues too..

Yeah, but not surprising when you see how cheap they are.

Hmm jeep, I own a defender 02, my father owns a Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 2011 Laredo. He has had a few issues , including transmission and other things, the latest of being lied to by the service manager. We saw online that his model had been recalled for an electrical fault in the passenger vanity mirror that could set the car alight He was getting another item fixed under warranty and he asked for the mirror light to be replaced at the same time when he booked it in. Service manager said "no ,its an internet lie and is false" , Now guess what item is listed to be replaced in the recall notice he received this week. This means another 1/2 day wasted by him on a trip to the dealer for a job they could have ordered the parts for and done 6 weeks ago! Now I know there are tales of LR dealers doing the same , but it seems to be the dealers way.
My defender had a leaking pressure regulator but that was at the 160,000k mark and 11 years old. Other than that nothing else to set it alight.
Also if I was planning to tow, I would not get a freelander. Same as I would not get a jeep wrangler or Cherokee. They all have very low GVM, so if you hook up a trailer and put a holiday load inside, your going to be over your limit.

As most of us are aware, since this is the internet, we have no way of knowing if the OP really had those problems. In fact we have no way of knowing if he even owned a Freelander.

We can't even be sure that the OP wasn't some ten year old kid with a warped sense of humour.

Ultimately it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference. We will continue to enjoy our Land Rover experience and the OP (if he is genuine) will continue to be miserable.

"Destroy My Jeep" reminds me of the "United Breaks Guitars" protest which ultimately had an impact on United's share price United Breaks Guitars - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I guess there are two sides to the story..but you have to admire the bloke's determination Are Jeeps imported by an Australian arm of the manufacturer or on a franchise/concession basis?

All makers have issues with their cars, even the "prestige" ones.

For anyone who thinks Jeeps never have any issues (which isn't most people subscribed here):
