"wooing" sound while driving ...PLEASE HELP!

    Hi all.

I bought a 08 freelander2 in jan and love it but in the last couple months it seems to have a wierd constant wooing sound. Its always there when im moving only.

I have an auto so as i go up in revs the wooing gets abit louder, but as it changed gears it quitens down and gets abit louder and stays thsde when I hit a constand speed.

Its not crazy loud but i know its there and ots driving me crazy!

Does anyone have any idea at all .

Any info or advice would be great.

    Thanks in advance!!

    -Ben

I'm not sure what a wooing noise sounds like in a car. Is the sound linked to the wheel speed or the engine speed. Is it coming from the front, middle or rear? It is most likely the famous rear diff issue but that is more a whine not a woo. I learnt the difference between a whine and a woo from my wife....in general, woo's are good and whine's aren't, if you get my drift?

    its a diesel .

I guess you could say its a constant whinning sound and it sounds like the front and goes up with.higher revs.

    Whats this famous diff sound?
Is it.something to be worfied about?

The whining rear diff is just about the only fault these cars have. Most have it fixed under warranty. Mine happened around the 80k kms mark which fortunately was inside the 3 years from new. Yours may have had it done by the previous owner. LR would know.
