I was wondering about this, surely all they are going to do is remove a fuse. I might see if I can con the detalls out of someone, buggered if I want to drive for an hour each way so an apprentice can take 10 minutes to do something I can do in 5.

I agree. I can't think of anything else they could do if all they are going to do is disable the PTC heater until the new ones are available.

    Ok, here is the drum.

What they do is pull the fuse and disable the PTC heater via testbook (or whatever it is called these days).

It was recommended to me to pull the fuse ASAP if I wished and get in for the disable action when convenient.

I might just pull the fuse(F14, thanks djhampson) and get the rest done at the next service.

Then in my case as my VIN number is in the range of affected vehicles. Should I wait for the letter or take it up to Toowoomba who were keen to do it regardless of the letter?????

No need to wait for the letter but give the dealership a call before you drop in.
If they haven't done so already, they can double check that you need to have this done & so save you a trip if it doesn't need it.

Ok, I popped the bonnet to give this whirl today, the manual said fuse F16 under the bonnet. I removed the top cover and couldn't find F16 Turns out there was another cover that goes down between the fuse box and the air filter, Still no fuses.

Grabbed a torch, and there they are.

Anyone seen these before? the PTC heater is the 100 amp one(in blue).

I looked on GTR for the fuse location so the fuse I said to remove might be wrong. It may be for a different spec car.

I'd trust your manual and not my post!

    heater booster recall

I took mine in - dealer is 10 min from home and work. Just enough time for me to have a play in a Disco and Ranger and bug them about some accessories and it was done.

They will notify me when the replacement part comes in and it's another trip to the dealer. So, without the booster heater unit until them, lets hope they get it in before winter rolls around.

I guess if the dealership is a bit of a drive for you, you may want to try and reduce it to one trip.
