Grimace, I would haggle a bit for those Maxi's if you planned on getting them. IMO second hand ones shouldn't be worth more than $1300-1500 an end. Plus fitting them to a later model you'll need to re-mount the actuautor blocks to the housing ($100 for new ones, or re-graft the old ones if possible).

    Doesn't work, I've tried it.

The later Rangie have wider front suspension arms as well as the link to the chassis is bigger as well (86 onwards) Also there's an extra bolt on the swivel probably because the old ones are both undersizer and come loose all the bloody time. I always had issues with that on my 83, even loctite didn't help

You could make it work, but I prefer the later 'flat' style housing anyway and worth the extra effort to retro-fit them.

Plus IMO those awful drain plugs on the old 2 doors are shocking and are near impossible to undo after a few rock scrapes

Anything is possible, especially on a Rangie and a few beers

Yes I forgot, he has built up a 4 door Rangie ute and had the maxi's in that (i think it was a 88 model) so disregard the last couple of comments.

Personally, I think $2500-2800 is a fair price for the pair complete.
