MickG, Sam and I tackle the tricky Ormeau creek run....(well try too)!

Well this morning, we had an early start and headed in with the Mack Truck, and the 90.

We ended up going in at the bottom due to the water tower entrance being blocked.

Took us about 40 minutes to get to the base of the creek, including some fairly technical stuff.

    anyway....

I went in first (last time we were here I got in about a car length and that was it!)

This time I was a bit more succesful, with spotting from Mick, we were through the big rocks safely, although it did feel like it was going over at one point!

Parked up and started to guide Mick, Got over the first section but then it slipped sideways and caught the track rod and the rear tow frame.
We did a bit of track building with the aid of a highlift, and we were going to just twaek it up with a pull from the winch.

It didnt work. Solenoid was stuck..... bugger.

We eventually managed to get out backwards with Micks car after deciding that going any further with out a winch on teh second car was a mistake (this creek run if you havent seen it is very very full on, and about 500-600m long)

We then turned mine round and attempted to get it out, and did this in the trees!....

    When we got home:

lol you bugger! Yes it sure does! Unless you count walking the entire length of it as getting further!!

Harry, luckily it didnt break the glass, so I just re-shaped the roof and put it all back together.

Mick, looking at the line you got me to take, I should have had you higher up the rocks. Will know for next time!

Bit late now.............will settle for some help bending the track rod straight again

Philippe, need to get a new solenoid pack (where do i get that sort of stuf then including all the bits to wire to cab?) and plan to wire it all up with some in cab controller..............GCLRO electrics day perhaps as I know next to nothing about electrics.

Justin, need to talk to you about your track rod protrecting diff guards as thats the front and the back rod I've done now

Definitely keen to conquer this beauty of a track again soon, so once my car is fixed, i'm there with bells on

I am so gealous of you guys!

With reguards to the winch solenoid, I would recommend getting a big titan unit (one big solenoid inplace on the warns 4/5) now while it is worth it. Most places are about $150 but I beleive I can get you one cheaper so if you want one let me know!
