    Easter 2010 (Flanigans Reserve)

Well most of us are home now after a pretty casual Easter Long Weekend Camp.
Most of the crew arrived Good Friday and set up camp, with just enough room for all.
In the evening once everyone settled in, we had the usual camp fire Banter Session.
A record may of been set, with 53 people counted around the fire, with still more people cooking dinner or the like, who where not there at that point.
Many stories told and plenty of Bull for good measure
On Saturday a convoy of 20 cars headed to a property near Boonah, where we met Weeds.
Weeds took us around his friends private property where it offered some difficult tracks such as High Knob, Fiat Hill etc.
This was a great chance to test out some of the various model cars and their capabilty. We had five D3's on this trip, and as always demonstrate the amazing ability these cars really do have.
We headed down to the western edge of Maroon Dam , where we had lunch and decided to head for camp.
After the main group decided to call it a day, we had 7 cars remaining that wished to tackle some more difficult tracks.
I am sure we will have some pics of this part of the trip and will show the muddy sections where some had some difficulty.
Saturday night offered another camp fire banter season and entertainment offered & the Easter Bunny arrived for the kids.
Sunday offered various activities where everyone really just did their own thing, local drives, visit the Heritage Festival at Rathdowney or just kick back at camp and veg out.
The local river offered a meeting spot to have a swim, a coldie and have a yak for while.
The Hohars, Glen & Perry arrived mid morning in their Series vehicles and had lunch and showed us their fabulous old vehicles.
Monday most people packed up and headed home after a casual relaxing Easter Long Weekend.
From all accounts by the reaction of most, we look at having another trip next year, and hope to visit some more areas within the region to see and do.
My camera was on the blink, so other participants have taken plenty of photos to show what we did over our stay.

A special Thanks to all who attended and it is hoped that everyone had a good time and look forward in maybe seeing a good crowd attend next years Pilgrimage.
    Cheers Dave

Thanks Dave for a great trip. Although it was tiring chasing a toddler around for a few days. Here are some some photos.

Thanks for organising a fantastic weekend Dave. Your time and planning is very much appreciated. Our GCLRO exclusive spot gave us real serenity by the water - while the hoards fought it out in the dust above! It was great that the park gave us leaway with the campfire / noise 10pm curfew - it allowed for some great yarns by the fire.

It's just a pitty that some members chose to be raucus and keep the whole camp grounds up until all hours instead of enjoying the family friendly campfire atmosphere. It frustrates me that mates in our own club didnt take a 1am 'please be considerate of others' request seriously - continuing their banter for hours after. All noise in the park was stopped at 10pm with a whistle, except for GCLRO members who had a special noise priveledge. As a founding member, it saddens me that our club projected such a bogan element, complete with swearing and yahooing.

I don't mean to sound negative, but after only 4hours sleep per night thanks to a few inconsiderate GCLRO members & invitees, I feel that something needs to be said. The campfire behaviour is what I would expect at the Logan Challenge, not something I would choose to expose my wife to. We only chose to go away this Easter as it was a family trip where we would know all of our camping neighbours - whom we presumed would all be courteous of their fellow GCLRO friends.

Thanks again Dave. Your choice of venue was fantastic. Sadly, due to the attitude of a select few, I think it will be my last GCLRO trip for a long time.

Had a great time! My first ever Easter camping trip! Thanks Busman for setting up a situation where I could - just the GCLRO crew.

And how wonderful to see the Series cavalry arrive in such splendour on Sunday afternoon - hats off, chaps.

Here are some of my pics....

Our campsite, music courtesy of Upper Logan River...

People everywhere - running amuck, as demonstrated here by Pete....

Parking is never an issue if you drive a Landy....

    All the usual suspects....

All sorts of great setups to marvel at - I do enjoy observing how each punter goes about the camping craft....

The finale - a 1957 Series 1 got lost and came into camp - great to see you out and as a GCLRO club member, Numpty - top shelf....

The timeless elegance of the Series 1....

And Mrs double aitch would murder me if a piccy of her sweeeet Zara didn't make it....

    Thanks again Dave!

Good to see that the majority of you enjoyed your weekend, I always enjoy the banter around the fire of course (especially if Grimace is involved) also the company is good too (competeing with Stevo on who falls asleep in front of the fire first is always fun ).

I spent my easter getting the bullet sorted which means phase 1 of project bullet is done also having to work on Saturday was a bugger of course (have to pay the bills ).

Well I'm off to Levuka for a few days so now it's my turn to kick back and enjoy I'll try and get some pics as I don't really get too many on trips.

Thank you all for Saturday. It was really nice to meet some of you over the course of the limited time we had there.

I would have loved to see the series vehicles on Sunday but I am sure there will be another chance sometime.

Thanks again to all, well done.
