    Coffs 2014

Just a quick one from me.

Firstly Grimace managed to drive 'Impossibles'

    The end!

Anyway, most importantly huge thanks to Tim, Rod, and Ant and Kathy from Coffs Harbour 4wd for spending time recce-ing and clearing tracks over the last few weeks, and then showing us around again for the long weekend.

    It was hugely appreciated.

We covered a huge amount of tracks, strangely enough according to Grimace, it appeared to be 96km on each day! Round trip for the weekend for us was nigh on 800km

Anyway some pics. I don't have everyone unfortunately but there were a lot of cameras about so hopefully lots more will appear!

    We also had fantastic weather!

Orsum Pics Pete... or should I say Sam

I had a fairly hectic week leading up to this trip and was pretty disorganised.
But I did manage to head off Friday morning at around 10am, catching up with a convoy of four.

So it was Pete Sam and Ellie, followed by JohnR and his tribe, then Dave and Reggie in the D3 and me and my POS in the tail stinkin up the highway!

We arrived with plenty of daylight to commence operation tyre swap.
With my 35" Mudhogs to go on Petes junk and the Sticky Treps to my POS.
Thanks to Pete for doing most of this while I was busy chatting to my previous insurer regarding the old claim for the house flooding.

With that sorted it was time to hit the pub for a few cold beverages!

In my disorganised state I forgot to bring jeans and only one jumper that smelt like wet dog in the first 15 minutes of wearing it, so I went on to be pretty cold for most of each evening! Guess someone will be stocking up on jeans and jumpers sometime this week.

I got no pictures once again, so will keep the rest pretty short.

First of all Saturdays driving in the hard group was as always steep hills, some ruts, some laughs, some scares, but none could have come close to the medium group and Phil who as most are aware had an unfortunate mishap that resulted in a rollover to his D4.
We were on a completely different side of the forest about to tackle a fairly hard hill climb at a altitude that can only be described as HIGH AS... F.... very high!
Getting that call near the top with the news was a real bummer, and not knowing the actual cause or outcome meant all we wanted to do was get home safely and hope that Phil was OK.

I can't thank all present on this trip enough. Between negotiating the roll over and getting Phil and his vehicle back to camp as safe as possible and then arranging the logistics to get Phil and his gear home (thanks Jason). It is great to see the help that is available from the club.

Thanks to all the Coffs locals who spent a bucket load of time clearing tracks and leading us around the state forest. Your knowledge of the area is priceless and we can't thank you guys (and girls) enough for providing such a great adventure.

Thanks to Pete and Sam, and John and Alison, and George for feeding me food and beverages all weekend. I didn't take any food bar two sticks of Biltong, I had a limited budget to spare yet I still had a breaky and lunch, everyday!

Thanks to the designated drivers that saved me having to walk to and from the pub (once was enough).

Sunday was the highlight for me, with Vardies, the freshly cleared creek, the powerline track and the impossibles all new to me and all were interesting and totally different terrain between all three.

The guys in the less modified vehicles did a great job getting around the trails on Sunday, to say I was impressed by Sunday arvo would be an understatement.

Onto Monday.... well I have to thank Pete once again for doing the tyre swap, I owe that dude some wristies for sure!
Monday the same convoy of four departed for the coast at around 11am, say our goodbyes to Dave at Bangalow as he headed on home while we stopped for a bite to eat.
Our resident pizza shop was closed!!! But thankfully they had some Bangin burgers for sale down the road.
I managed to keep pace an we somehow avoided all the public holiday traffic arriving home to see Jess and Fry before bed time

Finally to Fluffy, I say thanks... how your differentials have not completely vacated the axle housings is beyond me. What I am going to do if/when that day comes is also beyond me.
The latest round of modifications has changed the feel of the vehicle some, the super flex arms seem to be working better each time but not yet as good as the front end I had with the holey bushes installed.
The springs are getting tired (specially the rear) and DJ did mention it's sagging on the drivers side. I did notice on the highway heading home the rear was bobbing on that corner much more over the undulations of the road and it was interesting to say the least.
So I will have to finally stop procrastinating and do something about the springs, other than that I think a bit of maintenance on the old girl is all I can do to say thank you.

Bring on all the pics guys and girls!

    What a cracker weekend!!

Great pic's Pete and Sam, im sure there are plenty more to come, I have 2 go pro vids I have to load up on to youtube i'll get them done this week
I had a pretty successful run both days, my power steering pump decided it had had enough early in the day on sunday which made for some interesting driving for the rest of the day but apart from that all good.

By the way I hope all go's smoothly with sorting out the very unfortunate incident with your D4 Phil, We are all very glad you walked away all ok and I hope to see you back out on the tracks soon

Thanks all, I will have some vids up soon...

Had a great weekend - huge thanks to Eric for letting me bum a lift in "The 109" for the weekend.
    Highlights for me:-
    * camp grounds and pub meals
    * Tim, Rod, Ant & Kathy for all their effort
    * all involved in helping Phil
    * Tim for bolting home with no power steering to get parts for George
    * watching the Defenders in the hard group
    * Eric's and Grimace's trucks in action (widowmaker) spewing missed Impossibles
    * where DJ manages to put the D3

I took a bucket load of photos and vids but can't seem to load any up, think I have lost about 8 hours trying! Happy to drop a stick off to someone if they can have a crack at posting pics.

    Thanks for a great weekend

    Smile Coffs 2014

    Hi All,

Finally I get some time to go through the photo's and pick out a few.

What a great trip!! A huge thank you to Tim, Rod and Ant for showing us around their play ground (much jealous!).

It was my third time at Coffs but the first time I drove my car and had the family with me. I was very happy how Serious Black performed even if it sounded like he wanted to chuck a CV after each big climb! But they held on and new CV's and axles are on the way from Ashcrofts now

Phils incident in the Disco was unfortunate but goes to show us all that @^%$ can happen and you can't pretend it wont but the main thing was the nobody was hurt.

    On with the photos:

All lined up and ready to go!

A lovely drive though the countryside.

A lovely view (After a fairly serious climb to get there)

Serious black enjoying his new shoes

Eric showing us his impressive rear

One of many: "I think I popped a bead!" as said by George, several times....

Grimace's Rubber, as lusted after by many

Me spinning on a slippery climb

Pete and Sam taking it all in their stride

Ant in his Sexy, gorgeous, hot, Awesome 110 Ute

Dave pushing his car to its limits as usual, with style

And there was the Little Wheeling as well!

Paul even gave it a hard hit.

    Ellie, just being a Princess

Eric giving it a red hot hit to get up the Impossibles Even though he didn't make it the winch to the top at 50kph was impressive!!

Man of the match goes to Gramace!!! Being one of two known people to have ever made it to the top of the Impossibles, it was a seriously impressive drive

Good Bye Coffs. The scenery was fantastic the company was great but the driving was just AWESOME!!

    We'll be back
