Thanks to everyone that attended. As always a great group of people, some awesome cars, and some brilliant driving. Good to see a few old members returning and a few new members joining up
As always on a Friday afternoon everyone struggled to get away on time and we pretty much all turned up late. Trav did a great job of claiming our area and got the fire started in preperation for our arrivalOne by one we all rolled in, set up camp, and headed to the fire with a cold one in hand. A few settled straight into camp mode with the camp fire stories and banter in full swing
huh Stevo
Up Saturday morning we fed the troops and rolled out with a 6 car convoy, D1-D1-D2-110-110-RRC. Being a mixed group i thought i should get a feel for what tracks we could tackled so headed for a nice challenging medium hill section. Well.....what a warm upWell stands, a few tow bar bumps and some nerve settling driving saw everyone up, down and back up Club Rally Circuit. This led us to the Pig Pen where Stevo had a quick play and we watched some Yota's get stuck door deep
On to Claw Gorge which was a nice gully run in around and through the creek, with everyone negotiating it all with ease. With plenty of little ones in the cars we then headed back to camp for lunch. After lunch we headed to Telecom Hill for a quick look with 3 of the now 8 cars giving the dounting looking hill a crack. Trav, Gary and I then headed to the nice wombat section of Camp Rd where we caught up to the rest of the group. This is one of my favourite sections being a brilliant 20m up hill cross axle climb gauranteed to stretch the suspension to its limits
Off to the office for ice creams, chocs and marshmellows and then onto the nice afternoon rainforest section of the park. Eve decided she should do an on the trip DARE as she missed Crystal Creek so she took control and drove everything with ease. We all nosed down Cruiser Canyon which is an Extreme rated gully run and Trav, Gary and Eve decided to continue on while the group drove round. Stevo was all keen for a crack until i gave Eve a terrible line down a rock step and crushed my rear qtr and exhaust
Std qtrs on a D1 for 3 yrs of punishment.....it was only a matter of time
Once i let Eve pick her own lines the three cars cruised down Cruiser Canyon with ease
Trav claimed fire duties again a produced a cracker fire for the evening with plenty more beers banter and Stevo stories
Sunday morning Stevo, Trav, Gary and I headed back out for another couple of hours with some great little hills concored, some heart in the mouth moments and Smoky's first "Character Mark". I have to say Stevo......you did a great job the whole weekend and will only get better with a few more trip under your belt this yearGary, the D1 is coming along nicely and Trav, stop making everything look so easy
Noz and Rat, hope to see you on another trip soon, and Dan and (
sorry) i hope you enjoyed your GCLRO taster trip and look forward to seeing you on the next one.
