I've seen a few with the covers off, it doesn't make much difference.

I have wondered leaving mine off too. I have only had the D2 for 3 months and have had off once just to have a look.

I did think at the time that the cover would hold in a lot of heat. It looks as the fan blows the hot air under the cover with no were for it to go (I do realise that the fan is to pull air through the radiator and not accross the engine)

I might try it and see (I don't have an overheating problem)

    Leave it off.
Its only marginally different noise wise in a D2,IT HIDES TOO MANY POSSIBLY ENGINE LIFE THREATENING PARTS.
So much easier to do a quick look for problems.

Really? possible life threatening parts? I dont believe it........mines been off several times for checks and inspections for possible life threatening parts...hehehehe and I reckon (baaaaargain) its a pain in the whosit. so I'm gonna take mine off tomorrow and see how it goes . I'm off to William Ck saturday via charleville/birdsville so, by the time I come back in 11 days .....if I'm not bogged to the gunwhales(do d2's have gunwhales) I'll know whether to put it back on. Yes , I'll take some photos and learn how to post em ok? Did someone say where the hell is william ck?

Took mine off. I don't like all the plastic junk on the engine. Its their to suppress noise but really its not that much different.

Probably allows a bit more airflow over the top too considering the foam is quite thick and sits hard against the rocker cover.

Plus, it looks like its trying to hide something your not supposed to see......

    Cheers

Oh my God, I use to think the only reason they put the injector loom under the rocker cover was to make it look neater. But I'd forgotten about that plastic cover. so why !!!!!!
Mines off. Might put it back on if I see it shivering this winter.
