$X$ insurance - what are you doing?

Just got my renewal from TCIS and its a joke to say the least!

Just under 1K premium! Up $300 from last year and my car is only worth $7800 plus accessories.

What doesn't make sense is my mates D2 on 35's insured for about 60K is only $600 more then my car!!!

From what i under stand LSV has been taken over from westfarmers and pumped the price up

who else can i use I want full 4x4 cover unmarked tracks beaches etc

Tired a mob call DGA Insurance Brokers and they were over $1500!! I tried to get a quote for 3rd party fire and theft but a 1997 tdi with 250K on the clock is worth $7100 in glasses but redbook says much less.

    errrrr

    Hi Mick.

TCIS/Lumley have done that to ALL their customers. I reluctantly took out cover for the Disco having copped the same serious increase in premium and excess while also being expected to cop a drop in agreed value of in the order of 25%.

I won't be renewing. I'm now happy to drop down to extended 3rd party. I'll wear the risk and bank the money saved for a rainy day. Discos are getting so cheap now that if ours went for a tumble I'd bring it home, wreck it and build another.

Engineered with 33's, thats a bit different to engineered with 35's.

Insurance is a scam , TPFT is all i have on mine not worth paying for full comp when at every corner they will screw you out of paying up.

I was with Lumley's (underwritten by Wesfarmers) then they reduced the value of my D1 by ove 70% and left the premium the same as well as putting all sort of stupid clauses about it having to be kept in a locked garage at night. I dont even have a garage! but where it is parked you have to move two other cars and it then takes about 10 minutes to get it onto the drive.

It is now insured with Allianz at a massive premium of $1500.

I have bought a stocker and am selling it.

Talking recently with a friend who is an insurance assessor with RAC.....due to the amount of claims for storm/hail damage both to vehicles and properties we can expect insurance premiums to rise as a result.

Just like the banks, pass on everything to the customers so as not to disturb the profit margins
