for those thinking about LPG here is my feedback

The range of a diesel is longer, I can vouch for that when I travelled from Melbourne to Mildura and then onto the Flinders ranges in SA, then down the S.A coast. I can't recall how many constant stops I had to make to fill up LPG due the the limited range. LPG limits my of the beaten track ( so to speak) adventures due to supply and range. I don't particularly want to carry numerous jerry cans of fuel either just to ensure I have the extra range when the LPG runs out.
My next vehicle has to be a diesel.

So where was the saving in dollars by having Lpg i was saying , It was more expencive for them than me to run their cars , Mind you all the cars had Lpg when they bought them so they were not out of pocket for the conversion ,
Its not the first Diesel i have owned so im aware of the savings and the so called pitfalls if any that all them petrol and Lpg dooms dayers out there think that desiel,s have;) (Lol) ducking for cover now:cool:

With the LPG conversion and the other modifications that Bee Utey did to my car after the rebate comes back it cost me about a couple of hundred dollars. as I am saving about $50-00 a week I will have paid it off the next time I fill up.

also with the O2 sensor, bosh ignition sensor and other bits that he did it goes like a bloody stabbed rat. Now I guess i will settle down, but I am having a ball keeping up with V8 dunnydores and fords ( you sould see their faces) and I must add that I have also just fitted a 4.6 to it or should I say TRS just fitted a 4.6 to it. so it is a bit of a sleeper.

But all up I am enjoying it more than any time I have owned it in the last twelve years

A large capacity engines will always use more fuel than smaller engines so you compare a engines almost 4lt and more with a couple of diesels under 3lt.

I regularly get under 20L/100K in my 4.6 on LPG and with LPG at half the cost of diesel and a third of the cost when diesel was at it's peak you have to be doing better than 10l/100K in your diesel to save more than me on fuel.

I will acknowledge that the endurance on LPG is less than diesel but that is about the only significant difference.

My Ford has had the oil changed every 10,000. Having now done over 300,000, when it is due for its 10,000 change the oil is still very clean.

For long range, reliability, economy, refueling safety and convenience, NOTHING beats a good diesel. However not much beats a V8 for the sound it makes and LPG helps feed you the addiction...
Anyone asks me what to buy to cross a desert, I say, buy a TDi. If you want a toy that sounds nice, buy a V8, and gas it.:D

This might be right in and about very major towns , But step outside your comfort zone and use your car for traverling this great country and you pay a premium for your fuel , For example in Pinnaroo last saturday Lpg was 85 cents a Litre , Diesel was $1.35 a litre with my basic maths calculations on what you say Diesel should have been $ 1.70 a litre but it was,nt , Yep still no saving there for Lpg maybe for city slickers:p

Something to be said there, however some of these stations are just gauging customers last time I was in Dubbo there was an 11c/lt difference in the price of LPG on the outskirts of town to the cost of fuel in the centre of town. Thats a 33% surcharge to get the people entering town low on fuel. Same as why you never re-fuel at Goulburn on the Hume highway as it's always more expensive than Maroulan or Yass.

I always love the re-fueling debate.
Drive an extra 10 miles to save on fuel but buy a packet of smokes, 600ml Iced coffee and the paper, all at inflated prices but that does not matter as we have just saved 5cp/l on fuel.
It really makes me laugh.
I fill up when I need it, preferably at a BP and when I had my V8's, filling was a pain but the music to my ears as Bee utey said is worth every penny.

I still love the simplicity of a 3.5 on gas, the only real electronics to worry about is the dizzy. Any schmuck with a spanner can work on them

unlike a modern diesel, with all their electronic complexity, wiring harness issues, belt replacements, the massive servicing costs, the much higher initial purchase price, sensors and wires everywhere, so much more to let you down in the bush.

and they burn heaps of oil :D
