After posting that comment I clicked on a couple of tag-along tour links at the top of the page (thanks to Google ads) and was surprised at how expensive they are.

I'm in talks at the moment for a Cape York trip next year, so will look forward to your trip report.

    Cape York

We are heading up there in early July - meeting friends in Cairns then doing a three week trip to the top and back.

Look out for us - we will be in a 96 Disco V8 and a late 90s Prado. My mate owns the Prado and needs me there to tow him through the tough spots.

    Cape York Cuppa

    Rosscoe,

Sounds like a great idea. In fact we expect to spend much of the trip having "cuppas" with fellow travellers. Only difficulty will be that our itenarary is rather loose:
    - we meet in Cairns around about 3rd of July,
    - head off for the Tip soon thereafter, and
    - get back about three weeks later.
We are avoiding a fixed plan because we want the option to start late in the mornings, start early or stay another day - all depends on what we find.

Having said that, if you a thought on a location to get together please let me know and I will PM you details of our vehicle etc.

heh, our thoughts exactly. we are planning on spending 3 or 4 weeks up there, but will wing it and see how we feel each day as to whether we will move on or stay another night. no set direction on which way we will be going either. just going up there in july and enjoy the time is the guidelines for us

Fantastic place, those campsites on the beach are great.

And to get there do the track that comes in from the north & crosses the Pascoe river,an interesting drive.
