I have a 1965 Russell Hobbs K2 Vapour Controlled Automatic Kettle, handed from my parents, from their parents. It has boiled ~98,500 times in its 45 year service life.

It boils almost silently and doesn't do what you're describing.

Like all good LR owners, I have four spares in the garage from which parts are procured as and when needed.
