Names don't come any more unfortunate than this one, from a letter written during the World War II by the British Ambassador to Moscow Sir Archibald Clerk Kerr to Lord Pembroke.
Rather than write it I'll just provide a link.

Friend of mine runs a kid's clothing and toy store. One day a woman came in with twin girl toddlers.
Proprietor: 'They're lovely girls, what are their names?'

In 1985 at Numurkah, Victoria Court, a man aged in 60's appeared to answer a charge of a minor traffic offence for which he had not paid the on the spot fine. Was in some ways very clever, but often delighted in making himself obnoxious. Seemed at times he tried to annoy police and magistrates for entertainment.
Note when someone is charged with a traffic offence, it is normally under the name on their driver's licence. Anyway, this former local who had recently spent some time in South Australia had a licence issued there after he changed his name by deed poll. Apparently the official who did the paperwork was retiring soon after so could not be disciplined.
The new name was initially "Ye Old Count", but then amended slightly by deleting the second "o". Was charged under this in court. After the traffic matter was dealt with, Ye Old ---- as the local paper reported, said he wanted to tell the court why he changed his name. Seems the idea was whatever he said could be reported with immunity from defamation action. However, the magistrate just said something to the effect of "Not interested, you are just here to answer the charge. "
When this bloke was young, probably many police and magistrates would have probably have taken offence to this changed name. However, in 1985 after everyone had a bit of a laugh about it, the man concerned found it expedient to revert to his original name despite local consensus that that the changed one was appropriate.
I know a few.
