Caravan advice needed, 16' van Ford Falcon towing

Just remember when you load up the rear of the wagon and put 160kg on the towball your lights will be spotlighting aircraft:o the standard towbar will easily pull a 16ft van. Mines a manual but it pulls the s111 on a trailer up mount ousley without over heating:)

There is so much wrong with that combination. :(

The BA manual is towing rated at 1600Kg which is less than the weight of the SIII before you even think of the trailer.

BTW the BA automatic is rated at 2300Kg.

yes i believe coolant in the transmission is not good and thats why a seperate oil cooler is installed

is the reason why auto's have a greater towing capicity is because they do not have a clutch.....friction, wear, slipping etc

Diana not somthing I do alot but the S111 had a severe problem my point was the car was capable of pulling it no problems normally the series drives everwhere only towed it home once:D

I was actually thinking of the shame of it all, I hope you put a tarp over the Land Rover so it didn't get embarrassed! ;)

My father inlaw just returned from Sydney to Broome towing an 18 footer with a falcon without an issue,do the cooling and auto box service's and fit a cooler. Pat

Friends of ours here in Kal have just been on a couple of months touring holiday. They got sick of their camper trailer while in Albany, and traded it on a new 16 foot Coromal caravan.

Their tow car is a 4 cylinder Subaru wagon, and they said that it handled the new van with ease. If that is the case, I doubt any Falcon would have a problem.

the falcon wont have any problems at all.......


if the auto hasnt been serviced.....give it a quick oil change before you go.......and make sure the correct oil is used.....
i dont think they use standard dexron III......

and fit an oil cooler.......the boxes on the falcons do get hot...and this is what leads to an early death.......keep them cool and they should last almost forever.....
