Am I reading this correctly, that after 37mm of rain there is a dam about to burst? Is that a typo - i.e. should it be 137mm or 377mm or is there something not stated in the article. 37mm doesn't seem like much really nor does it sound like a deluge... ?? We've had twice that since monday and all that has happened here is the field mushrooms are bursting...![]()
Similar weather conditions in Wollongong in 1998 caused the collapse of a culvert and the loss of one life.

I see the rainfall has now been updated to 48mm. I did see the bit about the dam being 50% full and in the process of being dismantled but couldn't reconcile the 37mm (now 48mm) with being a deluge. I have a brother living in northern NSW and he talks of deluges of 150-200mm in hours so was wondering if this was a typo is all.
The Wollongong area has had over 100mm, I'm in Helensburgh about 20k north and have had 72mm, according to our rain gauge.
