    Defender 110 Sticking Brake! Anyone else?

    Had my new Deefer for a couple of months now and I've got a problem with the brake pedal staying on, just slightly, but it's enough to engage the brake lights and to feel a restriction when driving.
    I have found the only way to combat this, is to hook my foot under the brake pedal and pull it back, and it releases!
    It doesn't do it every time I put my foot on the brake but it does do it after a fair bit of driving.
    My question is: Am I the only one to have had this problem and if not, what could be causing it?
    I've had the dealer look at the pedal and they claim that it's returning all the way back and disengaging, but it's a sporadic thing unfortunately and I live over an hour from the dealer so I can't just nip in when its playing up.
    Any help or thoughts will be much appreciated..

    Never had a brake problem, but the accelerator in the counties sometimes sticks on. The adjustment bolt catches on the carpet/floor mat. Trimmed a bit out and no problem since.
    Don't know if that will help at all.

    time to lube the pedal pivots to start with, check the tension on the return spring and if that doesnt fix it drop the Master cylinder off and give it a damn good clean up.

    Thanks Blknight.aus, Dealer already checked the spring tension and claimed it to be ok, but do you think that the master cylinder would be dirty on a 2 month old car? I'm not sure, but will give anything a go..

    I would try another dealer, as this sounds like a mal-adjusted m/cylinder or a crook booster unit and current dealer is slack about it, been there had it done to me

    sorry mate didnt realise it was a puma... (no, I wont make the nasty comments, someone else will jump that bandwagon for me.)

    Ive had brand new pedal towers come as a siezed item before today.

    as part of the normal operation there will be some pedal free play (bout half an inch worth at the bottom of the pedal) get in there with your hand and with the pedal pulled all the way back check the freedom of movement for the first half inch or so. if its stiff, pull the return spring off and check it again If its still stiff then its the pedal pivot US and you get your first warranty job. (well presumabley your first) I suggest keeping a digital camera in the car, take a photo of the pedal in the fully returned position and then when it sticks one in the not returned position then show the dealer that.

    If they get narky and dont want to play with that get some "this vehicle sold and serviced by xxx" stickers for the windows, nice big ones, make sure the dealership management knows you have them and next time the brake pedal sticks leave the vehicle exactly where it is, advise them you dont want to drive it with the brakes stuck on and can they send a tow truck to recover it. This works even better when you tell them "its the rover with your dealerships name plastered all over it, you must be popular cause everyones honking at me when they finally get past the traffic jam its creating"
