few nice mud runs there

Makes me realise I like Australia for another 2 reasons.

1/. Our bears are smaller than us & live in tree's
2/. Driving through the snow in Winter is usually voluntary..

soviet fealings are strong in some areas ( usally the poor areas)teaching the locals how to BBQ, its autum and about -17 deg. ice on the inside of the windows of our appartment - 30 deg. BBQ again, loverly winters Day -40 and Minime at about 20 months playing out side -40

the green Jeep thing is a GAZ, originally based on a ford WW2 jeep and a S1 tub and fire wall. it hasn’t progressed much until recently, 1500 then 2 ltr then 2.2 petrol, now days usually with a 2.7 French diesel. If you look at the door bottoms, the front and rear doors are interchangeable, door tops come off as will the roof etc just like a landy, the difs were interchangeable from front to rear until recently.

The long nose trucks are ISSH. There are 3 different cab types in the slide show but are basically the same. Started out life as the 2 GM duce and 1/2 truck factories sent to the USSR ver Iran during WW2. originally with a 5ltr flathead and ending up with a 6ltr pushrod V8, this is the same motor that was used in the ZIL limos, currently they use a Russian designed and produced V8 diesel. This V8 is used in every thing from tractors to boats and Kamaz trucks.
imagine a fordson tractor with a 4 ltr V8 diesel in it, its a bit like that.

The cab over trucks are Kamaz, known to us from the Paris to Dakar racing and slso purchased in large numbers by the UN and the USA for Iraq

The Lada Nivia, if you look is a 4 door so its no older than about 5 years, you can also get it in a double cab now days. a joint venture with GM saw a new model come out about a decade ago but the original model is still being pumped out but with the GM gear box ( made in china) and the original 1500 cc is now a 2.2 with bosh injection

I can relate to the BBQ outside in cold eating Шашлык (kebabs) and of course водка (vodka) my first russian words were roughly translated : Simon will you drink vodka me: ok !!!
can relate to the young children playing in the cold, my wife said school was not stopped until -25 degress of frost!!!, h In NZ most people are worried by minus 5!!!!

LOL yes the Russian meat and mayonnaise then poke a stick though it.

Until recently RF was the biggest importer of ROO meat, but this was banned about 18 months ago, I assume some Russians have returned to there old habits of eating each other. “ don’t ask Babushka what’s in the soup” “don’t ask the Kakistani what’s in the pie”

school what a crack up of a system, start at 7 years of age from 7am to 1pm 5 days. Most parents work 12 hours a day 2 days on and 2 days off. If they work at all
