    toyota V8 recall

Toyota are about to recall V8 and V6 Lexus' due to a valve spring issue.
Same V8 is used in the petrol V8 cruisers.

Is this the issue involving the engines dying whilst driving?

Andy, if this is the LX470 (Cruiser V8), then they are different engines, cast iron block etc. The LS series were all alloy, different engine series.
..Still, to be on the safe side I guess I'd better keep it below 6000rpm now then...

Have you ever done the coin trick on your 1UZ-FE, where you place a coin on the top of the plenum, rev it to just below 6500rpm and it stays put......the rev limiter makes it fall of though

Don't know about the 1UZ, its a bit long in the tooth now, but the 3UZ in the wifes '430...Only got 140k on it. Should hold 6000+ for a while eh???

Err, beat you to it, I've removed the main mufflers on the LS400 and added resonators at the back with the original extensions, looks standard but sounds provocative now....Other half said ' Whats wrong with the exhaust on your car? It was never that loud when I owned it...have you run over a rock or something??'

And at 43 I'm entitled to try and feel youthful again by listening to V8 soundtracks!
