Just got through to the dealer... heres the deal:
    New prices (base models):
    U400 - $235,000
    U500 - $255,000
    U4000 - $215,000
    U5000 - $235,000
    Tyres - $800 - $1500each

    2nd hand 1450's and 1700's go for around $30,000

He also told me that with the Army "overland" project, the existing fleet of mogs will be up for auction within the next two years, he expects them to go for aroun $15,000 - $20,000 each...

Another interesting point, there was a recent parts contract for the Army worth $5,000,000...

    time line

like the g wagons, the time line for replacement is getting longer and longer. i wouldnt have thought the unimog would have been replaced in the next 5 years. I dont think a replacement is even named and you would have a time line of at lest 5years to turn them over.

Don't forget, some of the mogs are pushing 30 years old... some of the ones I drove felt like it too... buyer beware.
I can't remember how now, but I know you can trace which unit the mog came from prior to purchase. Look for the larger units, like a BASB (Base Administrative Support Battalion) (not infantry or artillery!) The rear echelon units are bigger, more mogs, more mechanics, more beurocrats ensuring they are kept up to standard. nothing against the grunts and gunners, but geez they drive 'em hard!
