    Rego plates in NSW

    What's the go with the price of rego plates in NSW? You have to pay for them every year? Why do you pay for then every year and were does the money go? Once the plate is made you pay for it. So what are you paying for every year after that?

    Sounds like the Gov is on a good money spinner you give then money and they give you nothing.

    Annual fees only apply to the premium plates.

    When the yearly fee was introduced, the income was announced as funding the accident investigation unit, whatever it's called. Perhaps it now goes straight the general revenue, haven't heard one way or the other.

    There are differential fees.

    Some plates in the regular series of numbers and letters there is an initial fee of usually $200 but then there is no annual fee.

    For personalised plates there is an annual fee.
