I thought the OP ad was very good.
Sadly , I don't think any kind of campaign is going to make a difference to the majority of dick heads I see out and about.I feel for the emergency services having to clear it all up.

20 yrs ago you didn't.....couldn't.......and you didn't spend hours on your home land line chatting to people.

So whats happened?

I have not noticed an increased level of friendship with anyone....

I just looked up Australian Road Toll. It made for some interesting reading.

In 1970 the Australian Road Toll was 3798! Or about 17 people per 100000 of population.

In 2015 the Australian Road Toll was 1209. Or about 6 people per 100000 of population.

1209 is still way to many but I was staggered by the reduction in deaths. There are more people, more cars, more roads & definitely more Idiots yet the Road Toll has dropped by around 60% in 45 years (have I worked that out correctly?).

But, still be careful out there, that's 1209 people that won't be having Christmas this year!

BTW 1970 was the year my Parents & Brother were killed, that's why I chose it.

The primary reason for reduction on Death Tolls is due to increased safety of vehicles and the laws changing making the wearing of seatbelts compulsory.

What is missing is the 800% increase in the number of para and quadriplegic injuries since the introduction of airbags (Austrlia 804% from inception to 2013, USA 680% and UK 885%) no records since 2013 as it was sending the wrong message apparently. So yes we have had a decrease in the number of deaths, but with more people, more cars and no mobile phones etc etc + increased safety, the numbers of people affected is much much higher.

Be safe people, enjoy Xmas but make sure you and everyone else on the road gets to go home and not the hospital or the morgue
