What is the meaning of a "Bloke"?

Had some time ago had two Americans over here and over seeing a job I was working on. One was a two bob snob that had tickets on him self. The other Called Bob was a top bloke. Good for a laugh. Asked were there was a game park so he could go and see the critters. So explained it was a sanctuary and the critters were mostly marsupials that he should see. Then gave him directions to Healesville Sanctuary. Gave him a practical lesson in our lingo, which was fun. Went sort of like. Bob " howdy how are you do`n " I would reply "grouse mate, every things bonzer " Then there was a moments silence as he tried to get his head around what I had just said. Went on like that for the couple of month he was here.

Hoop Snake

Kingdom: Animalia
Location found: Australia
Sightings of hoop snakes have been reported since colonial times for at least the past century in Australia. This snake grasps its tail in its mouth and rolls after its prey, thereby achieving great speed, especially when going downhill. Hoop snakes have been clocked going over 96 k.p.h.

At the tip of its tail is a highly venomous stinger, making this a creature to be avoided at all costs. It is the only species of snake known to have a stinger on its tail, and this stinger is so poisonous that even if it strikes a tree, the tree will instantly wither, turn black, and die.

If you should encounter a hoop snake in the wild, the best defence is to run as fast as you can and hope to find a fence to leap over. The hoop snake will have to uncoil to get through the fence, thereby slowing it down. Some have reported that diving through the hoop of the snake will cause it to run away. This, however, has never been verified

Hey Digger,

You forgot to mention the sure-fire way of avoiding them if encountered - which is running flat out up the nearest, steepest hill. The hoop snake can't follow as quickly. ;)

Oh and we have a huge problem with wild rabbits. Through years of experimentation we have found the best way to catch them is to throw salt on their tail. The salt paralyses the rabbit making it very easy to pick up and dispose of.

Yep its a sport like abseiling but they call it 'arse salting"

Its all good except when the RSPCA find out, then they're very unhappy with people going out 'arsesalting" rabbits!:mad:

And then there is the fearsome bunyip, and the terrifying yowie.

Not to mention the death adder, deadly funnelweb, and flesh destroying whitetail.

I find chasing the occasional stray Hairy Clam can be injurious to ones health:o
