A sacked policeman hijacked the bus in a bid for re-instatement. Yeah right, that'll work.

I was watching this with interest last night (never been to the Philippines & never intend to, but I spend a lot of time in HK) - I saw a scene in which the bloke was standing in the door of the bus having a chat to the two police negotiators. Unless there was reason to believe there was an explosive device or accomplice on the bus, he should have been taken care of then (easier said sitting at the kitchen table, I know).

Very sad that 8 people lost their lives in what must have been an absolutely terrifying situation:
