That can and does happen to all makes of tyres at some stage.

I peeled a tyre like that just going up a freeway, my mate in his Patrol peeled his Pirelli scorpions on same day and tore off rear quarter panel and fuel tank filler hoses etc.

He runs a tyre dog or what ever they are called. To monitor constant tyre pressures and says its amazing the difference a change in surface will do to pressures. He was not surprised his let go, dissappointed maybe but to watch the constant variations in pressures, tyres are put through a lot of stress.

Sorry to hear about your demise of course.

hmmm I've seen so many failures from this the loudest of all the off road tyre manufacturers. you would assume from all their talk that this wouldnt happen, well not as frequently as it does. Does this company actually design and test for australian conditions. I know a few people believe that these are the best tyres ever made for off road, but I havent been convinced yet. I havent had a flat or a blowout or a sidewall tear in hundreds of thousands of k's of offroad driving. am I just lucky?

I am on my second set of Cooper S/Ts and have done heaps of KLMS on them with the only problem being having to plug a tyre on the madigan line where a small stick went through the tread.

I have seen BFGs and many other brands blow out and fail on trips where I have been away with them.

It is a bit like Ford and Holdens you either love them or hate them.

When these Coopers wear out in about another 150,000 I will put on another set.

I will never buy a set, I saw what happens to them when Redback bought a set way back when and I wont touch them.

Got a set of the new KEVLAR Goodyear MTR's at the moment and love them.

What tyre pressures were you running when it happened?

Vehicle went in for repair Monday 23 August (yesterday) and I get a phone call this afternoon saying the vehcile won't be ready for another 2 weeks because the assessor decided that the panel could be repaired and did not need to be replace. Naturally with a tear in the alloy and no alloy welder in town they were not able to repair it so today the assessor decided they could order a replacement panel - which will take two weeks to get here on the barge

Well at least I have access to other wheels in the mean time. Now where did I put Derek's phone number ...

I should have named the thread "The Assessor said What?" as that is what staggered me!

The story of the demlainating tyre I had already posted on the thread about Cooper S/T's

    Anybody running Cooper S/T?

    how bazaar.

they sell lots, some love them some hate them.

tyre pressure is the key, not just with coopers but with all tyres.
