    Yep, tough job dealing with lowlifes, I would'nt want to do it. I guess in a way its the same as the soldiers in Afghanistan, you are in a dangerous situation. My thoughts are with his family!!!

    Vale Bill CREWS, another hole in the thin blue line

    Quote: Salus populi suprema lex - The safety of the people is the supreme law. (Cicero)

    This is the motto of the SA Police and the basis on which Police forces are established...

    In enforcing that safety men and women put their lives on the line regularly..those who have made the 'supreme sacrifice' and in most cases the brief circumstances, are listed at this site;

    on the top of that page is a small window "on this day"...

    add to that the name of 26 year old, Bill CREWS, who died today after being shot in the head and neck during a drug raid.

    My condolences to friends and family of this young man.
    On saturday he was to be best man at one of his best mates weddings..

    A PART OF AUSTRALIA DIED

    Somebody killed a policeman today
    And a part of Australia died...
    A piece of our country he swore to protect
    Will be buried with him at his side.

    The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
    Just as if he had gone off to war;
    Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half-mast
    To his name they will add a gold star.

    The suspect that shot him will stand up in court
    With lawyers demanding his rights,
    While a family laments and their world is now torn,
    And spend many long, lonely nights.

    Yes, somebody killed a policeman today...
    This is here in this world we thought fine,
    While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors
    A cop put his life on the line.

    Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city street,
    and with all those who died 'in the line' standing tall
    And on guard he stands at each new copper's side:

    He answered the call . .
    .... of himself he gave all,
    And a part of Australia has died...

    CREWS, a Constable was late last night shot in the head during a drug raid on a unit in Bankstown and died later in hospital.

    Mr Scipione, the Police Commisiioner for NSW, paid tribute to Constable Crews, of the Middle East Organised Crime Squad, saying the state had lost "one of its finest".

    Premier Kristina Keneally described him as a brave man and said he would be given a full ceremonial police funeral.

    Buy or get out your Australian Flag, mount it on a broomstick or post and line the route of this mans funeral... show his family he did not die for a mere job but that everyone knows and laments that he died for all of us..

    Hmm, certainly hit home with me. My eldest daughter is 26 and recently joined the dark side. Made her first arrest last week: Asian national, cocaine. My thoughts are with his family and his mates.

    Cheers

    My thoughts also with his family, friends and colleagues. It should never come to this. We owe the police forces of this country a lot. RIP.
    Cheers .........
