What a nightmare....but how did this happen? Driver fatigue? driver distracted?
it must have been a fair speed involved for them to both end up like that
Here's their description from their blog:
It was about 4:30pm and we were starting to think about finding a bush camping spot for the night when a Discovery 3 pulling a camping trailer approached from the other direction. Anne slowed and moved the Land Rover over to the left, but unfortunately there was a drop off at the edge of the gravel road, rather than the usual tapered bank, which the near side wheels caught, unbalancing the vehicle and causing it to skid to the right into the side of the oncoming Discovery. The end result was us on our side in the middle of the road, and the Discovery on its roof in the ditch on the other side of the road.
thats a shame they were trying to do the right thing and it ended up like this
How sad for Mike and Anne to have ended up like this. I am relieved that nobody was hurt including the people in the D3, just goes to show how tuff these Landies are.
I have driven that 110 when they were here in perth and it was a very heavy vehicle but they both were fully aware of that and drove it knowing that.
I will try and help if needed where I can .....
Brad:(
Sad end to a great holiday.
At least they wernt injured nor were the others involved.
Hope they do get to rebuild their Camel.
