    Thumbs up Honest advice

Well as we all know it`s hard to find the right advice about some things with out the person trying to sell you some thing. Well I had a postive experiance to day. My ute has been running abit rough of late. Had done the fuel filters but was not quite right. So thought mabey injectors. Went to a diesel crowd in Hallam Vic. John diesel. They don`t realy advertise and the owner was a bit curios as to how I found them. I was put on to them from a diesel parts place in Dandenong. They don`t need to advertise as they have heaps of work from word of mouth. I told the owner my suspected problem. He had a look at the ute and I took him for a quick drive. Now he could have told me a story of how every thing from the fire wall forward needed looking at and I would have most likely booked it in. No, in stead he said the motor is dam fine (always good to hear) and it is only starving for fuel. So go and drop the tank, clean the whole fuel system out and see how you go. Now I could still be looking at the lift pump not working well enough, but he at at least put me on the right track first.

yeah, some places still give it out, but its rare. I ring my mechanic all the time and pick his brain, he knows he will never get to work on my car as I do it all myself but he still helps out. The only time my truck sees his workshop is for rego checks, wheel alignments or when i need to rent his hoist for a day or two. There are some good mechanics out there, its such a pitty they arent all like that.

Consider this fuel treatment, it's an excellent product that really works.

Might pay off for him in other means, considering Ace's current employment

same thing for us, we have a really good mechanic and he helps us out over the phone etc and sometimes even sourcing parts...but he knows that we will always bring the car to him for the bigger jobs

Did not have any beer to give, but he got a free plug here and I thanked him enough. He also was a landy fan and a ex owner of one, which got things of to a good start. He gave me a look at a sample of diesel from a local independent servo. Was not good, lot`s of floaty`s . I normaly get my diesel from Mobil which was by coincidence the one he recommended. Will be going back there soon as I need some banjo bolts for the fuel return lines and hopefully that`s all . One other item he mentioned was the size of the after market filter. Some thing to consider when any one is going to fit one. To big and your lift pump is going to struggle to suck diesel through it. Mine might be a tad large.

My disco was running like a s^%$ heap up in darwin, I was advised by the mechanic that the injectors were stuffed and needed replacing so I took it into the injector guy around the corner from where I work just to get a second opinion. His words were "yes I can replace them but it wont make any difference thats not your problem"!!!

2k later from mechanic, which I might add that he couldn't fix it and conceeded defeat, it panned out to be the hall effect module on the side of the dizzy - back to injector guy and got a new one for about $60-00 he told me how to fit it.

stress less big guy, i have a great working relationship with my mechanic and he has helped me out with my cars for over 10 years. I rebuilt the engine in my 1600 ford escort when i was in highschool with his help in his work shop, he is a top bloke and he is paid for his troubles. Also when im in his workshop renting the hoist I help him out with the other vehicles he is working on as he doesnt have any other staff, so i scratch his back and he scratches mine. Maybe my other post didnt come out just right.

And now i live in Bathurst and his over an hour away in Kandos i still drive over for rego checks as a courtesy for all the things he has done for me, if anything fails like lights etc i get the bits from him.
