off-topic question; need to identify Magna part

Please excuse the non LR nature of this post, I'm doing some work on my daughter's 94 Magna and I need to identify a part that needs replacing, I'm sure someone on here will be able to help.
It looks like an oil-pressure sender or similar, it screws into the rear of the block (2.6 engine) just below where the inlet manifold meets the head. It has a single-wire harness about 6" long. It is leaking oil. The local Mitsubishi dealer was no help at all in identifying this part, and I want to replace it whilst I have the motor out of the car.
Would very much appreciate if anyone is able to tell me what it is so i can order one.
    TIA.

If you unscrew it, oil comes out and there's a hole in the sender's threaded end, then it's likely an oil pressure switch. Don't bother a dealer with 20+ year old stuff, they will have forgotten all about it. Visit your nearest auto shop.

Thanks for the replies fellas, I found a much more helpful mitsi dealer on my way to work tonight- turns out it is actually a....(drum roll).....

    Knock Sensor!

Apparently a common component to die and leak oil, retail price over $200.00!!
Contrary to popular myth, oil leaks are not the exclusive domain of pommy vehicles. My wifes Camry is also spewing oil onto the driveway at this very moment.

toyota staff in masks are going to steal it tonight after that post, dispose of it and clean up the oil.

Im having issues with Stacey's pajero at the moment, ECU has chucked it in, i'd much prefer and oil leak
