    LED Light Bars

    G'day all,
I just saw in the recommended suppliers section Mitchell Bros are importing some LED light bars, has anyone used them and how do they compare to the various filament type driving lights around?
I put a sexy tube winch bar on my County but the driving light mounts put most conventional driving lights above bonnet level or in the way of the as-yet unfitted (so don't know clearances) winch. The LED lights are nice and low profile...got me thinking and my wallet shrinking...I'm looking at the 10" flood.

Lights I can find with a similar physicial height are (all rectangular) Cibie Cesar and Skipper, Narva ultra compact, IPF 108/808, 868/968, but all have seriously high power draw compared to LEDs.
I remember when my Dad had a County, we couldn't use aircon and driving lights at the same time as the piddly little alternator couldn't keep up, so low current draw is a great thing in my book. I won't mention Series 2a generators

Also anyone know where the (NSW) law enforcers would stand if you only used one of the bars, since conventional driving lights have to be in multiples of two as far as I understand?

Hi mate, I was out 4wding in the wattagans a few weeks back and a mate has fitted one to the roof rack of his patrol tray back. I must say they are very impressive. His was the 40in model so pretty much spanned the width of the roof rack with a few inches spare on either side. When on, day or night, its to bright to look at close up and when on at night it lights up the track in front like dayligth and gives an awsome even spread of light. We ended up coming out of the track at about 2am in the morning and he was two cars behind me in the train and when he came around a corner 200-300m behind me with it still on it lit the back of my car up and my car cast a huge shadow in front of me as the light went down either side of the car and up the road in front.

    Matt

    LED light bars

Has anyone looked into the LED light bars distributed by Snake Racing? I am looking at the 30" for $1200 installed instead of a pair of HIDs. Videos and claims look good but sometimesthe reality is less so. Love to see one in action if anyone has fitted. I am in Brisbane

They would want to be spectacular at that price.

You could get 4 Hella rallye 4000s and HID convert them for that price!

I think I will wait for the prices to drop (and they will, how much were HIDs 5 years ago?) before I buy any.

yeah, same brand, snake racing were promoting them at tough trucks this year. They had a cruiser I think with one on the roof. Turned night into day in front of it.
