New and Improved Lavis Lane
As most Newcastle locals know lavis lane has been closed for a couple of months for "improvements" Well I went for a early morning drive today as I couldnt go to the show at Castle hill all I can say is hats off to the work!
What a ripper of a road now, the small hill at the start before the carpark has been graded and now all weather with tar, the rest of the road has been widened and now a solid gravel base with speed humps the whole length. With drainage put in as well.
At the point where we used to turn left at the ATV track they are both closed you turn a slight right and the road continues up over a rise(still gravel) and puts you out on the top of a dune looking at the ocean and stockton bight.
I really thought they would do something wrong, the exit entry even has heaps of room for different approaches on/off the gravel, will be interesting to see how they keep the sand back from that.
All in all AWESOME work! though a little dusty till it settles.
For those that havent been for a while Permits are still the same $30/yr normal $15/yr pensioner and $10 weekend.
Also spotted another D2(white) with AULRO stickers on the bar airing down I have seen it before forgot to get your name

Here is some pics from today, I heard they had to drag a Barina off this morning, HeHeee as it was there was a camry sitting on the side of the track where the old ATV/Vehicle track was, so I think people will clog the track up now in summer with cars to get to the beach.
There is also 2 sets of gates one at the begining photo 1 and just before the old atv track photo 3.
Photo's
1. The entrance
2. The tar section that was always washing out on the first hill
3. Looking towards the old turn to the beach (normally very soft)
4. Looking up the dune to the beach
5. The entry/exit onto the dunes
