October long weekend, Sydney where to go

    Hi All,
Any suggestion on where to go camping or bush camping for the October long weekend.
max 4 hour drive from central sydney. Safe place as there will be kids 2-12 years of age, also got some softies coming with, so hardcore 4wd access is out, (but may be the only way to get rid of them)

So my first option would be south of Sydney close to the beach, even 2-3km inland would be ok or close to a river/lagoon!

Secondly West of Sydney, Bush camping and river fishing would be great.

But where everything is booked out.... any ideas?

    Please help!

    Regards and thanks all

Sounds like a nice place, do you have GPS waypoint?
I would preffer bush camping and a bit of fishing. Are state forest still open for camping - any place you like?

My favourite camp site is a little far, Linyanti river botswana - Don't take kids, they will get eaten...

3/4 hrs will get you to hillend plenty of free camping along the river the bridle track is closed at one place but still some light to med tracks, swimming at the weir and fishing, only long drop toilets unless you camp at hillend itself then there are showers in both national park camp grounds

4 hours would get you pretty close to Bendethra as well, may take just a little longer - top spot though with plenty of room along the Deua River (probably a bit too cool for adults to swim at the moment but the kids wont mind)

    I've camped here.

    Bush Camping

Interesting road leading in, but a great place to kick back. And Wombeyan caves aren't too far away. My first time there was in a commodore, so the others should be OK.
