    VSI-50 is DEAD

Received this email today from Andrew Stoner

    Dear jeff

Thanks to your efforts, we have made the Keneally Labor Government scrap its plans to introduce harsh vehicle modification laws (VSI-50).

This is a win for all 4WDers and car enthusiasts.

I will keep you updated on any further ill-conceived Labor plans, but please contact me with any other NSW roads issues.

Thank you and please remember to drive safely as we approach the festive season.

    Kind Regards

What you all might be forgeting is that it has been refered to the national board.

This may well turn out to be the detrament. The national board could well say no modifiation at all.

I have not read the document in its entiriety but must say it read to me as just making people who do these modifications accountable. there are a lot of people out their who do not get the mods engineered etc. It may well be those who are screaming the loudest.

It may well turn out that our nice 35" tyres for instace with the national board may be pulled into line with other states and they will be redusced to only using 33"s

This may be made into the law that when the 35"s run out you can only buy 33"s, then is the old engineering out of date as you are know running 33"s and the engineering is for 35"s.

The above are only examples of the worst possible kind but may not be out of reach of the national board.

I think I can say that laws are comming just what and when.

are comming my way but I have big shoulders and can take it,

I'm really pleased that VSI50 has fallen over again, but I'm still really annoyed with the way the Labour Government, AAAA and 4WD Association went about this whole process. At the end of the day, these bodies are there to serve as our representatives and the whole process was conducted behind a complete information blackout. Do the idiots that are supposed to represent their constituents and members forget so easily that they're supposed to represent OUR interests and not thier own - shame on them!
It's better to regret the things you've done than those you haven't!
