Simply political posturing and manoeuvring. It was referred to the Federal level so that the state government washes their hands of responsibility. The baton has been transferred, not destroyed.

I read the draft VSI-50 and I thought that it was generally OK for most vehicles, but it fails to take the size of the vehicle into account. The maximum lift under the proposed VSI-50 is 6". This is huge on a Suzuki Sierra but has minimal impact on a LWB F250.

I could not see how $WDA (oops - 4WDA) could possibly claim that VSI-50 was "the end of 4WDriving as we know it". It seems that the "enthusiasts" they hire as "journalists" are yet to complete Responsible Journalism 101. I guess that's a moot point as it can be hard to find the editorial content between the ads. Having said that, their product comparisons are the most useful I've seen.

Anyway, I love the statement "scrapped by the Keneally Labor Government" since the newspapers will probably read "Keneally Labor Government scrapped" after the next election.
