Those sure are great shots Wayne.
They jogged my memory of days gone by when I used to play in the Desert country regularly pushing an old Albion Viking chassised Leyland 401 rear engine coach round and round the centre carrying tourists on camping trips. Those sure were fun filled days.
These were taken back in the 70's or so, one of which was a big wet year out there then (I remember on one trip scaring hell out of my passengers by jamming on the brakes and backing, just up to take a photograph of the Finke flowing. The first time I had ever seen it - and it kept flowing for months after!)
The femme fatale sitting amongst the 'Explorers relief' (Sturt's Desert Pea) had only been my wife for a short while (or was about to become my wife - I can't remember) when this was taken!

The other one, the redhead, was just another of the passengers. I told you it was a good life didn't I.

Both you Wayne and Digger should well recognise the area these next couple were taken, of Hops, Dock, and what you called Salvation Jane (whilst we Easterners called it Paterson's Curse).

If not just to put you at ease they were at Horrock's.
Passengers were complaining as the trip had been advertised through agents as being to the "Red Centre" and it wasn't red, it was green, yellow, purple and scarlet
The last couple I just thought I would throw in for good measure (seeing that this is basically a Four Wheel Drive Forum) to give an idea of the condition of some of the roads in the basic vicinity back in those days.
Remember it is only a two wheel drive tourist coach with a by today's standards, minuscule power output of around 117 Horse Power, (tons of torque though!) through a 6 speed box and two speed diff.
These were taken, one, on the way back from a day tour to the Olgas from Ayers Rock, long before the fancy names of today were inflicted upon us and the other on the Stuart Highway (South Road.)

    Regards
    Glen
