It means that is is a 2002 MY (model year) Land Rover Discovery. The II means its the second generation Discovery.

Oh, I thought the MY was a mid year model change. Like a slight mechanical change in design around June/ July.

Scouse might correct me but every they all have MY09 or MY10 or something and the MY just stands for Model Year.

I believe that MY means Manufactured Year, eg, MY09, means made in 09.

It is Model Year. We're seeing 2011MY cars coming through now.

Ok, so my supposed 96 model Def that was built in May 95 should be described as a 95MY, is that correct? And guys, don't get me wrong! I wasn't claiming any knowledge on this, just claiming a lack of knowledge

Oh, just saw Scouse's reply, so my 95 build is described as a 96MY? If so, hey that's cool. I was born in 59, but I like to say I'm a child of the 60's but I can't remember them and as they say, if you can remember the 60's, you weren't really there

    If you have a SALLDHMF7MA******, it's a 1995MY.

    SALLDHMF7TA****** is 1996.

Well, it's definitely an MA which supports the build date plate saying built May 1995. I wonder why the rego papers say 1996? Doesn' really matter to me, just curious.
