    Forming a better car club

Have a look at index and read how to form an effective car club sans bs.

Whilst you are on their site, have a good browse and a laugh.

    A very entertaining site.

like I think groucho marx said,

"I don't wish to be a member of any club that will take me as a member"

interesting points he makes, maybe a bit hard on the "guru restorer" though! and a lot of registration officers are trying to do the right thing by people and by the club...looks bad when car has brakes fail and mows down 20 kids at a bus stop!!

I'd like to be a member, we should call and ask to arrange a series of meetings with them to look into the SA branch!! How d'ya think that'd go then???

We already have the 90 day logbook but no red, white, blue, green or whatever micky mouse card the other states have.
Cars in SA are all roadworthy unless a cop says otherwise so we don't need cards even though the motor garage owners keep pushing. Guess why $$$$.

Any how, back to the main point - which is most unusual for this forum

Dead right about people joining a club to get power.
I am sure we have all come across the person who has brand x model y car and that is the be all and end all of life for this person, the whole club has to bow down to this persons whims - and unfortunately that often happens.

I could rant on and on - but you know what I mean.

    Ha ha love it.
The description of the "typical" car club was bang on for a previous organisation I was a member of.
They'd rather deabte debates, call points of order, and set up sub committees for the commitees to discuss holding meeting about holding a meeting, than drive their friggen vehicles, and definately not off road!!

    I love this bit.

We have an AGM that lasts 1 minute, and no other meetings.
We do not accept anyone who just wants to join. They are invited to come along, to see if we get along, providing their car is acceptable, but if they are a pain in the arse they are ****ed off.
We have minimal fees, enough to cover the cost of Incorporation, and the website, plus $10 to keep the bank account open. Any surplus we drink.

This guy must be a member of the NSW/QLD Chapter.

Spotted at the Murwillumbah Festival of Speed this year.
This car was a well though out work of art. Right down to the complete mandarin peel that sat on the running board. There was interesting stuff hanging off it everywhere.
