I have two options before me.
I can buy an 03 model TD5
OR
a range rover 3l diesel (BMW motor)

I am keeping my 110 Defender for any off road activity and I am looking for something nice for touring in comfort.

Which way should I jump???? Jim

How many to tour? D2a back seat is ok but suspect that the RR will be more comfy.

don't know much about the bmw diesel.

Umm, last time I looked a diesel RR cost a fair bit more than a TD5.

I love D2s but in terms of space and comfort the RR leaves a D2 for dead.
