    SCAM Or not??

    Earlier today I downloaded a program from Microsoft website. This afternoon I received an email supposedly from Microsoft saying I had won a large amount of money in one of their promotions. They are not asking for money or even bank account details but for some strange reason I think it might be a scam. Opinions?

    Report it to microsoft, if its fake i'm sure they will be only to happy to help. I found this when dealing with Norton in the USA

    As above, ask Microsoft, if its legit they'll tell you. Hopefully it is and you have actually won some money, it does happen sometimes im told.

    It's a sad thing when anything that appears too good to be true generally is! What was the email address it came from? Did it ask you to do anything?

    They only asked for name, address and phone no. plus country. I emailed Microsoft and they confirmed my suspicions

    Did it have a link in it to click on? and did you click on it if it did?

    No link to go to. Just asked for personal details ie Name ,address and phone no. Then to send this vie email to an address given. But as I said SCAM

    A very old and common hoax email. Not a scam as such but more falls under the category of a chain letter.

    Very annoying but not dangerous (unless you have high blood pressure).
