What is it with Tojo/Patrol drivers??

Went for a drive to the coast yesterday. Three incidents left me wondering what's with some people?

One. Sitting at the lights next to a Patrol, I set off in my usual brisk fashion and he decides to drag me off (it was a 4.8 petrol so I wouldn't have had a hope and wasn't interested anyway). No worries my lane came to an end so I pulled in behind him and he immediately slowed right down, forcing me to tramp on the brakes and then started gesticulating at me in the mirror. FFS!

Two. Another Patrol. I was behind this bloke going uphill (about 100m behind) and we come to an overtaking lane. There was a slow vehicle in the left lane so I tramped it as there was just about enough room for us both to get past. He got level with the slow one and obviously had seen me coming in the mirror because he then slowed down to the same speed. I was not tailgating, at least not until he slowed down. Fortunately the slow chap slowed even further to let me in front of him, at which point the **** in the Patrol sped up again.

Three. On the Pacific Hwy, there was a Troopie sitting in the fast lane, about 50m behind me, doing the same speed as me. I came up behind a slow vehicle and pulled into the fast lane to overtake. Troopie man then obviously got offended that I was in front and booted it to come right up my clacker. I was at this stage exceeding the speed limit by a comfortable margin and he just stayed there while I overtook a couple more vehicles. Once the left lane was clear I pulled in to let him overtake if he wanted to but he just pulled in and slowed down having made what point I'm not quite sure.

Just seems to me that Tojo/Patrol drivers don't seem to be able to cope with a Defender going faster than they are.

Maybe they are trying to prove that their seriously inferior vehicle is as good as a Landie!!!!!

Perhaps they have been pulled out of a bog by a Landie, and mistakenly think acceleration is what the Landie used to get them out rather than low down torque, so they try to show off their acceleration--mine is bigger than yours attitude.

well, when they see my sticker saying anything else sucks, I dont blame them, but I quickly pull out of the way and try to avoid any sort of confrontation. But there IS a syndrome of some sort going on there and I never provoke ....cough , cough, cough, or ever do anything but smile and grin at them. Why does smiling and grinning seem to make them more aggressive?

had my fair share, I love it when with 100m to go on the overtaking lane they decide to cut back to the left and tromp it before you can get back in the lane. then cant get enough go to get past you....

works especially well if you tow a trailer.

OR the idiot in the left hand lane that speeds up when you go to over take so you cant and are therefore holding up everyone behind you who is also trying to overtake the numpty who wont let you pass even tho they only want to do 85 in a hundred zone.

I usually allow them to assess the road rules and laws of physics and level peg them at the next overtaking lane.

Its remarkably comical when you do that one towing a trailer. its even funnier when you pull it off in 30m worth of truck.

Not sure but it is a heap of fun. Try blowing them a kiss - It almost makes them explode!
