Peter Wherrett would be turning in his grave....
After this rubbish I flicked over to Briz31 to watch 4WDTV where once again they were bagging range rovers...

The RR classic did have very good articulation compared to the other 2 and it held the van much better down the hill. The problemwas that they did not follow the LR slogan " If its not leaking oil it's out of oil"!If they had done this it would have survived but still lost through fuel consumption

Vlad, but it is still a trashy imitation of TG UK. Lets face it it could be a great show and the elements are there, they do need a level of credability. At least TG UK generally run the cars as they are, dont recall them running out of oil. They can be funny doing a similar segment without looking like complete dipsticks. Yes the trashing of vans was fun, but seriously running a car out of oil!! Just makes them look retarded. At least genuinely see how the cars perform. By all means smash em up and sabotage each others cars, at least that is deliberate actions. They made the best standard 4x4 of the 3 look the worst and that is just uninformed bias.
I think Shane has added to the show and possibly brought up a notch.
You can do funny and parody without degrading to stupidity.
Warne may own a Lambo but is still a tosserand a poor choice as is their stupid ute as a lap car. Get areasonable car people can at least have a decent crack at a fast lap.
One of the biggest probs in this country IMO is we hold sports stars on a pedestal even when they are questionable, immoral, law breakers or just arrogant idiots and it is honestly one thing I detest. There are far better role models. There are plenty more decent role models with a lot more personality.
What next, maybe we should get Ben Cousins to do a Colombian drug run in a Lambo.

I would not like to have been the people who sold them the 4wds - the RR was in good nick for its age. The carvan segment did highlight why you should not take an onroad van offroad.
Also - wasn't the Stig sacked in the UK? - yet he turns up on TGA. They want us to believe (maybe tongue in cheek) that there is one and only Stig - a previous episode introduced the Stog which I thought was a great move but we have now gone back to the Stig.

I'm reading through the posts...agreeing then disagreeing....then agreeing. Vlads is the most close to my thoughts. For those bemoaning vehicles etc getting trashed...ever seen an episode of TGUK. Ok......got that one sorted.
The elements of the show are the same as the TGUK.....the difference...and only difference is the presenters. If you had Jeremy etc doing the Aus version last night......the naysayers would be saying how good the show was...not a RR ran out of oil or a caravan got damaged etc.
The word that comes to mind when I am watching it....at this stage is ...awkward. Bit like when you meet people for the first time. However once you get to know each other, over time.......with some people you become mates. Very hard to establish rapport when it is all new. I think this is the crux for the show at it stands.
I was a late comer to TGUK...so have never seen earlier shows....would be interested to know what people thought they were like. There is also the component that some people...you just never warm to. I like Shane aka Kenny and the other bloke.....reminds me of a comedian (on kath and kim)....whereas Steve....who has been on since inception........just can't warm to him.
Is a TG Aust better than no TG Aust....in my book...no. I still get to see cool cars.......though hopefully over time the rapport amongst the presenters will get from a place of "awkwardness" to being one of "comfortableness",
Regards
Stevo
I wasn't paying a lot of attention so for some reason I thought the Jackeroo was a diesel...and that was the why the Rangie was blowing smoke because Eoin had supposedly siphoned fuel from the Jack and put into the Rangie without checking... hence all the blue smoke ...possible helped by a generous helping of oil in the fuel into the bargain
Commentary in the press when TGA was first mooted, implied that the format of the local version was in effect 'demanded' by the franchise holders in the UK to resemble the Pom version as closely as possible...
Even TGUK is starting to get boring... in fact I prefer to watch '5th Gear' instead.
J Clarkson is simply a loud mouthed self opinionated egotistical twit (or is that egotesticle...judging by his constant lewd innuendo) ...Hammond and May are far more refined and streets ahead of him in the IQ stakes...
Disappointed with what is, as distinct from what could be... and as for sending SW to do a couple of laps in the UK... about as silly as trying to convince people to buy a Hyundai because it contains steel made from Pilbra iron ore...
