No more extended warranty for Puma Defender?

I'll repeat my comment from another thread that the Puma is the final nail in the coffin of the Defender line, at least in this country.LandRover haven't been serious about the traditional working type 4x4s since the County 110 series in the mid to late 1980s The rot pretty much began with the 300 tdi Pretenders when they downgraded the Salisbury diffs with shorter splined halfshafts and driveflanges that wore out in around 60,000km. then they dropped the Salisbury altogether and went back to pathetic Rover type diffs, even on the 130's, smaller cv joints/front shafts, smaller propshaft unis, now non greasable. no chassis reinforcement on the 130s,Weak body construction etc etc etc.All this time the competitions components were getting stronger and tougher. LandRover have completely lost the plot with the Pretenders.They should stop taking advantage of blinkered one eyed enthusiasts who can't help themselves and kill the kin line off ASAP.
I could rant on for another few thousand words, but I think I will go and just have agood cry.:(

X2....yeah yeah...I know...from a Disco driver...yeah I'm out of the closet.......I LOVE DEFENDER"S..........good......all done. But yes......a 2nd hand Puma would have been a good replacement for Smokey......as I liked the updated interior, 6 speed manual and for me.......optioned with 7 seats. If at the time....it had come out...I could have ended up with a Puma.......instead of Smokey.

Shame really......having that extended warranty is a good thang....I got 3 yrs with Smokey.....not that much has gone wrong....but the few little things that have...have all been covered and that was on a 5 yr old car at the time. Say's alot considering..what...the Puma is tops 3 yrs old? Guess Disco's really do rule :cool:

Some body on the forum researched this about a year back and reported it on the forum. From what I recall there were two companies offering aftermarket extended warranty. Can't recall who they were other than Allianz was one of them, but i do recall Allianz was spelled incorrectly in the posts at the time. Try searching the forum.

Thanks Karl. Have done quick search with no luck, I will dig deeper.
I spoke to a bloke in the know this afternoon who said that he knew of another company other than Allianz who offered one but was not apparently worth the paper it was printed on. If it's allowed I'll post when I remember their name.

Hopefully there are more than two companies.

Anyone tried AWN....thats what Smokey is under, 3 yrs unlimited KM's. Australian Warranty Network - AWN worth a shot,

Found out earlier than I thought. AWN say they offer extended warranty but it must be attached to the initial purchase of the vehicle , meaning that once you've bought your car you cannot add it on later. To be frank, the guy seemed a bit unsure of his own information.

Has this thread disappeared from the 'new thread' listing? It was there a moment ago but now I cannot find it unless I search for my own posts.

Perhaps some Puma owners should be consulting some lawyers about a class action suit against Land Rover Australia. I'd reckon that Allianz's actuarial information could be used as evidence that the Puma Defender was not fit for the purpose it was sold.

That'd put the wind up them and if it means the Defender is withdrawn from the market then it's a sad but probably a good thing.

Maybe prospective owners could go to a dealer and request to purchase a new Tdi Isuzu County.
