Turn the radio on, enter the four digit pin, wait a minute then hit the self tune button. If you need a copy of the radio manual, PM me.
Gday folks,
Recently my radio which is a eurovox tapedeck in my tdi has become, less than usefull. As i desconnected the battery to do some work on it. i have the codes for the radio but cant get it to work....hmmm. what am i doing wrong and what ecactly is the procedure for fixing it.
all advice is better than no advice
Thanks, thehippo
Turn the radio on, enter the four digit pin, wait a minute then hit the self tune button. If you need a copy of the radio manual, PM me.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
You can try the test code of 1 1 1 1. If the radio works with that, then you may have the wrong code for your radio.
Have you entered the code successfully in the past?
Scott
thankyou, i will try both of these, i believe that the code is correct but will try by using these tips and get back to you....
Mate, in all serousness, lose it. It is rubbish and probably worn out by now, I know mine was (same age) I ditched it and put a cd player in that has a front usb port, cd's won't work on that angle and the vibes would be too much anyway but I just play off the usb.
Steve
Replacing it is definately on the agenda, but at the moment there is a number of more pressing issues, that deserve time and attention, eg. power steering pump, and other bigger problems.
it will be replaced one day but at the moment i will just stay with it. and thanks for the tip on the angle, will be useful
Thanks
the hippo
CD WILL work on that angle with a number of brands however having said that they will skip like no tomorrow off road so a USB or Ipod controlling head unit is the way to go.
I'll get around to it one day. Meanwhile I have the same radio in as you, thehippo, and V8Ians advice is good except I;ve only ever waited a few seconds not a minute.
There was a code written on my radio in nikko (coz peopel keep forgetting them) Sadly the numbers were transposed - took me a while to figure that out !
Cheers
Mike
P.S. If anyone is looking for an original tape deck radio as described just let me know you can have it when I swap tot anew one.

Very well then, allow me to be more concise.
It is in a Defender, like mine.
Defenders are noisey.
Defenders always need a few dollars spent on them.
Smart, practical men buy defenders.
Therefore I take it as read that any man with the good sense to buy a defender will also have the good sense to buy a reasonably cheap stereo. There is just no point forking out hundreds for a good quality sound system when you can't appreciate it over the noise of the car.
The vast majority of reasonably priced stereos won't play on that angle, or, as you agree, off road. Since there is an almost infinite number of stereos available in that price range and only a very finite number that will work on that angle, if you divide a finite number by an infinite number the answer will always be so close to zero as to not merrit a mention.
There for, any stereo head unit reasonably available for a defender won't play on that angle.
Steve, with a little inspiration from Douglas Adams.
my cheap as Kenwood cd runs fine in original spot ('95 110 c/chassis, quite bouncy unladen), it does jump when you hit decent holes on gravel road but easy fix is to plug in daughters little i-pod shuffle via front aux in (cost about $170 for cheap stereo & shuffle + $50 for front speakers)
Never used to listen to radio or tapes when driving with original unit, then changed to Kenwood & new speakers ,now I've always got a disk on but I do turn it off on gravel roads
