This reminds me of the day I took delivery of my Jeep (brand new)...got a locally known troublesome cop who flagged me for illegal tint on the hard-top windows. With not even 50klm's on the clock, I tried to explain that's how the vehicle was sold from Jeep Aus like that, but he wouldn't have a bar of it. I refused the ticket and demanded he confirm with the local dealer how it was presented when I picked it up...I had my stepmum (a lawyer) on the phone while he was informed by Jeep it was an ADR approved tint. Tosser!

Mind you, this was the same cop who a few years earlier thought that there was something suss for a P-plater to be driving a near new BMW. Hearing "Does mummy n daddy know you've got their car out?" was seriously insulting as I'd already said it was mine, and he tried to smash a headlight out...too bad I'd upgraded to Lexan units n made him look stupid! Subsequent roadside roadworthy showed nothing wrong, n sent me on my way.

It all depends on attitude and if there's anything attention-seeking about your vehicle in my experience.

Now this topic has been surfaced...

I got pulled up by the RTA last week in the 120"... Most of you know it by now. Has had a few very minor changes over time but still rather stock.

They tried to pin me for an illegal engine conversion and thought I had swapped the compliance plate from a stage to a mid/late nineties defender. Then started on the chassis extension.
I said nothing for a wile till they started on the yellow sticker.... I then informed them they may need to do a bit of research on this particular model. Idiots
Thats twice now, the first was my very stock S111 88" Pinned me for unsecured seats and wrote Make..Toyota Model...Land Rover on the notice...

Back to the original post. Yes they are very active in our area due to harvest and farm trucks etc. Trying to keep our roads safe for the silly season.

I know they have been talking up there holiday campaign but i was thinking last night i wondered if there high visual presence in Healsville had as much to do with the stabbing of the police officer last week?
I could be way off the mark and they were just targeting all the weekend traffic heading to and from Eildon.

Many many moons ago, the wife's cousin and I both had souped up early model Holden panel vans in Adelaide - his was an FJ and mine an FB. Both were done up as show cars - we competed in the odd motor show back then, and there were extensive mechanical mods to both under the bonnet, as well as a lot of chrome, expensive paint jobs, and fully decked out interiors.

We were both pulled up by a young copper in Jetty Road, Glenelg one weekend, and our vehicles got a good going over. After a while, we had convinced this young copper that the 179 block with 149 head and triple weber carbies in Kevin's FJ, and the 307 V8 with holley carby in my FB were simply modifications of the originally fitted engines - with basically only the carbies and the added chrome differing from what was originally fitted.

I guess that young copper had a lot to learn.

We later sat down and had a good laugh about it with a Sergeant in the SA Police Force who was a good friend of ours, and who was also the owner of a very modified early model Benz at the time.
    Cheers .........

Well, I mean, the factory 120" chassis extension looks a little substandard
