1. There are already plenty of westwards channels. Like the Cooper creek. Any idea how much flooding it takes to get water to flow that far? It's thousands of channel km across usually parched terrain, except this year. They don't want any more west of the ranges, thanks.
2. Putting water in lake Eyre doesn't solve anything. There's so much salt lying around there's no chance of reusing water that has flowed into the lake. As for the myth that water in the lake will generate rainfall etc. it didn't happen after the 1974 floods, or any other one either. The Timor Sea is what produces rain in the north, and that depends on sea temperature in any given year.
3. The water isn't really wasted, its part of the great hydrological cycle of moving silt and nutrients around. It's what happened before white man came and though he was master of the universe.![]()


its a shame all that water is wasted by going back out to the ocean, as australia becomes more populated water will be needed ??
