I must admit that it is funny to have Make and Model Number plates...

Paying for a central version of the badges often already on the vehicle

However, I've been a great fan of custom plates and had many...

Many years ago when I was living in Sydney and personalised plates were a new thing there was a lime green Ford Falcon 2door (XA/B/C)model locally with the plates "STOLEN" on it

smiled every time I saw it, what a Cop attractor

And I kinda like my "OLR-068" plates on my 1968 2a LWB

I have two personalised plates on my Honda CR-Xs.

GENONE - because its a first generation of the little pocket rocket
SINISTR - for my kitted gen2 crx, has a few bits that make it a bit mean in the right light but its not a weapon thats for sure or something that will eat your kids.

When the new plates in WA came out we managed to get a few special ones for the other CRX's and a few boys from my car club did the same for their CRXs.

1CRX-084 (1984 CRX) and 1CRX-095 for my girls 1995 CRX.
the other guys scored certain chassic numbers etc for their cars or 1CRX-666 for a track weapon CRX - All in the name of good fun.

I did consider a personalised plate for the D3 but the plates are now $350+ for a set. When i got GENONE they were $130 (15yrs ago).

In SA, you can apply for an "R" or "S" series plates. These were the first alphanumeric plates issued in SA, and most original vehicles are now long gone.

Cost is a once off fee of $70, and the plate is mine until I surrender it.

So, yes, my ****** plate looks like most other plates in SA, but is "personalised" to suit me. RAT-135

As mentioned by a previous poster, not only is there the original purchase price of personalized plates, but here in NSW there is also an annual fee, with the minimum being $99 up to (I believe) $440.

I pay enough for rego. now without giving the state more of my hardearned. If it wasn't for the annual charge I would consider personal plates.
