Is the Defender classed as a car?
Just saw on the victorian news that all new cars have to have Electronic stability control and soon side curtain airbags. Would like to buy a new defender in the next couple of years should i get in soon?
Is the Defender classed as a car?

It's sold as a commercial which is why it does no have to have child anchor points,( although it should especially as its sold as a 7 seater!) so will be able to avoid the esc/airbag rule for a while.
yeah good point wagoo..........
130's rule
i was reading an artical in the land rover monthly from jan last year ,about the poms imorting older 110s and 90s into north america that are over 25 years old (vintage loop hole) because as a new car they dont meet their saftey standards. The artical also said that Land rover states that it is not economicaly vialbe to fit air bags and meet side impact requirementsi hope we dont follow the same path and loose the defender. it would be the saddest day in Australian motor history
depends if a Defender is considered a commercial vehicle or passenger vehicle.
There is a new chinese car about to be released in WA only(who would buy one anyhow???),ONLY because it doesnt meet the new Vic ESC rules.
