    Disco roll over

    Hi All,
Thought i would share this, Thursday night a mate of mine called in need of help on stockton beach, he had rolled his d2 down a dune somewhere in the big dunes behind tin city trying to find one of the exit tracks.

This goes to show how dangerous it can be out on stockton at night, even though the driver has been known to do some silly things out there for fun he tells me he was driving casually when it happened and just misjudged the dune and taken it at an angle which at night isnt hard to do, as he went over the edge sideways he tried to correct it into the slope but it was way to soft and steep so it went over. He has tons of experience on Stockton beach but just a slight lapse in concentration and this can happen...

I was supprised how well the d2 had actually held up, I checked the marks on the dune and it looks to have rolled over 2.5 times coming to rest on the passenger side close to the bottom of the dune, this pic gives and idea of the angle it was on when i found them, only way to correct it was to pull it down hill rolling it on to the roof and back to the wheels.

1 small pull was enough to get it back on to its wheels, we checked a few things out and started it up, it had lost some oil but otherwise seemed to run ok, apart from poped beads on some wheels, broken windows and the roof having dropped about 12-14 inches in the front it held up very well, we fixed the poped tyres and were able to drive it out slowly to where the tow truck could take it, mind you with the driver being fairly tall he had to drive with his head out the sunroof to see where was going most of the time.

There were 3 of them in the car coming off the beach after a night fishing when it happened all of them got away with no injuries just a few minor cuts from the glass when getting out of the vehicle, but after looking at the dune they rolled down i am very supprised no one was hurt, luckily speed wasnt a factor in this one otherwise they would probobly all have died.

Im glad every ones ok. The dunes up there are changing all the time and i know how steep thay can be. Many a time i rode the dirt bike of a shear drop off from the wind blowing the sand from the side of the dune.

The bumper might have survived but it looks like the roll-over has seriously swirled the letters on the number plate. It might be hard getting that straightened out again.

It's scary how easily things can go wrong, I've seen a few roll-overs out there now. So what's the direct number for Mick's All-Hours Recovery Service?

Glad to hear there were no injuries.
