    Alice Outback Tours Defender user?

    Looking around a commercial vehicle yard in Brisbane this morning and came across 2 08 Defenders in white for sale. Loaded with bull bar, winch, spots, long range fuel tanks and a built in compressor. The sales man said they were from a tour operator in Alice Springs - that would explain the red dust everywhere - but he didn't know who it was. At least there wasn't any rust.

    Ignoring the price, they were Very tempting with all the kit already bolted on but would would you really buy an ex-tour vehicle?????

    Just wondering if anyone knows who uses Defenders on tour out of Alice. Wouldn't mind a quick word with them to see how hard a life they have had.

    There are a couple of D3 and D1 tour vehicles but none using Defenders for tourists.

    Judging by Kms and others I have seen at Pickles, I would bet a good sum that these are actually ex Federal Police vehicles. Surplus as the intervention winds down.

    If they are ex FedPol the price is way too much. Not because they are poorly maintained but because three of these went at Pickles for $38,000 fixed price with balance of all warranties and they had lower kms. Incidently the Pickles staff said they were heading to QLD.

    I would agree with Strangy. They have all been unloved / abused as well, even though the servicing provided by Sutton Motors would have been top notch.

    A friend just bought an ex-govt 08 Nissan Patrol from the NT, with 26,000km, Bullbar, Lights, Kaymar Twin Rear Wheel Carrier (with mags), Longranger Long Range Tank, Dual Battery, Engel Fridge, Black Duck seat covers thoughout, for $35K.

    These Defenders look quite pricey in comparison. Still, I'd rather have the Defender.
